Ever wondered when your house was built? Questioned who lived
in your house before you? Have you found evidence of modifications
and would like to further investigate? SRA researchers are
specialists in house history and are the driving force behind
the History Channel’s Hidden House Histories. We offer a range
of services, based on our expertise, to help you trace the
history of your house.
General house history
Documentary research into the history of your house is available
at the rate of £40 per hour; daily rates are available on
request. We advise you to contact us to discuss setting
up research parameters, as house history can be a complex and
lengthy subject to research.
Architectural analysis
We can arrange for an architectural evaluation of your property
by one of our specialist experts who can date the features
of your house. Prices can be arranged on request including
specialist services such as dendrochronological (tree-ring)
dating and measured drawings from associates, such as Dr Jonathan
Foyle (HHH). Pub histories
Taverns and inns played a vital role in the local community,
with many interesting characters passing through their
doors, and historical pubs are often included on tourist
routes. We can trace the history of your pub, and where
possible shed light on exciting episodes from the past.
As part of this service, you will receive a pamphlet
that can be distributed (or sold) to your customers,
and we can arrange photocopies of key documents that
can be displayed on the walls. The rate is £40 per hour,
but at least several days will probably be required to
achieve worthwhile results. Daily rates are available on
request.
